Take a moment and ask yourself, ‘ Am I managing my life in a way to support my spiritual growth, or simply running after a material life for security and pleasure? Does this way of life sound authentic and soul satisfying to you? If not, then you need to know your Purushartha.
What is Purusharth Yoga?
Purushartha is a composite Sanskrit word made up of Purusha and Artha. Purusha means ‘embodied Atman’, a person. Artha means ‘purpose’, so purushartha means the purpose of a person or the goals of life.
According to Hinduism, a person who realises their universal purpose is a Yogi. Without purpose we are lost and there is no meaning to our life. Purusharthas are the inherent life values of an individual given by the universe, they are the blueprint for human fulfillment. Working with them helps you create a satisfyingly balanced, meaningful life at the deepest most holistic level. They offer a way for evaluating your life and making good decisions. Knowing your goals brings meaning to your spiritual practice.
When you know your Purusharthas then Purushartha Yoga happens. This is what real Karma Yoga is.
There are four Purusharthas or goals of life; Dharma, Artha and Kama, these solve our worldly life purpose. When people begin to seek higher consciousness, the fourth goal of Moksha ( liberation from the body and mind/enlightenment ) is added.
Moksha, which is mentioned in Hatha and Ashtanga Yoga is supported by the harmonious interaction between Dharma, Artha and Kama. Once we know our Purusharthas we can live our best life, full of creativity and satisfaction.
Find your life purpose at Veda Yoga Life Centre with the help of Guru Acharya Ajay.
